In November 1918, in the Painswich Orphanage, a children’s home in the west of England, a volunteer named Helen taught and cared for the children. Every night, she would see a few wandering babies outside the window, on the grass, with a hole in their foreheads, blank black eyes, and their arms pointing in a distant direction through the cold winter drizzle. Despite her fear, Helen mustered the courage to tell the elderly headmistress, Ms. Haris Parrot, who tried to comfort her, suggesting that it could be an illusion due to Helen’s constant work.
Suddenly, some of the students fell ill with a fever. The headmistress then arranged for them to be taken to the hospital for care or transferred to another facility with a more suitable environment. Strangely, none of the feverish children returned. As the days went by, Helen began to hear faint voices calling her in the middle of the night. She followed the pointed fingers of a few lingering white figures, crossing the pathway through the grounds. Eventually, she arrived at a hilltop, where she discovered numerous graves, all of them belonging to children with identical medical conditions.
What terrifying truth lies hidden within the orphanage?
