Biography and Grainne’s writing journey.
Grainne was born in Da Nang, Vietnam in 1991. When she was a high school student, she joined the school’s literary talent team, and Grainne ‘s first horror short story was written in 2010.
She has a special fondness for the horror genre, such as Stephen King’s novel “The Shining” from 1977, Roman Polanski’s “Rosemary’s Baby” from 1968, and the eerie manga works by Junji Ito, with “Tomie” being a notable example. In addition, Grainne also enjoys reading classic romance novels like “No Greater Love” by Daniel Steel from 1991 and “Little Dorrit” by Charles Dickens from 1857.
In 2014, Grainne graduated from university with a degree in education, specializing in chemistry, and spent two years conducting in-depth research for her master’s thesis on organic chemistry. However, fueled by her passion for writing novels, she continued to create a few short horror stories during her scarce free time on weekends after teaching.
In 2017, Grainne married an architect, and they spent some time traveling to different countries. Their trip to Japan in 2018 (Tokyo, Nagoya) served as inspiration for her romantic novel “Love Again.”
From 2019 to 2021, the COVID-19 pandemic emerged, significantly affecting her teaching job. Consequently, Grainne decided to dedicate all her time to her beloved writing. She continued to publish numerous short novels in the genres of horror, science fiction, and a few love stories.
In 2022 and early 2023, Grainne ventured into the field of culinary writing, aiming to introduce the world to the unique cultural aspects of Vietnamese cuisine. She authored two books during this period, titled “Vietnamese Sweet soups” and “Cuisine of Da Nang and Hoi An.”
Currently, Grainne is still writing novels and taking on ghostwriting assignments in the genres of horror, science fiction, and romance, as well as working on a few cooking books.
